Islam originated in Arabia in the VII century AD. The origin of it is clearer than the origins of Christianity and Buddhism, for it almost from the beginning is illuminated by written sources.

However, many of them are fiction. According to Muslim tradition, the founder of Islam, Muhammad was a prophet of God, an Arab who lived in Mecca, he allegedly received from God a series of “revelations”, written in the holy book the Quran, and gave them to the people. The Quran is the main holy book of Muslims, as the Five Books of Moses to the Jews, and the Gospel for Christians.

Muhammad himself did not write anything: he was probably illiterate. After him, there were scattered records of his sayings and teachings, made at different times. These texts and those of earlier and later time are attributed to Muhammad. About 650 A.D., these records were united (by the third successor of Muhammad – Osman) in the collection known as the Quran (which means reading).

This book was declared sacred, dictated to the prophet by archangel Jibril. Not included records were destroyed.

The Quran is divided into 114 chapters (suras). They are arranged without any order, simply by size: the longer are nearer to the top, shorter – to the end. Meccan suras (earlier) and Medina (later) are presented in mixed order. The same writings are repeated many times in different surahs. Shouts of praise and majesty and power of Allah alternate with regulations, prohibitions, and threats of “hell” in the future life to all naughty. The Quran shows absolutely no traces of such literary editorial and finishing, as it is in the Christian Gospel: it is quite raw, unprocessed texts.

It may useful for those who write their research proposals on Islam religion, to use free example research papers on different topics. They can teach you that another part of the religious literature of Muslims is Sunnah (or sleepy), consisting of sacred traditions (hadith) of the life, miracles and teachings of Muhammad. Collections of hadith were compiled in the IX century by Muslim theologians – Bukhari, Muslim, etc. But not all Muslims accept the Sunnah. Those recognizing it are called Sunnis, they make up a large majority in Islam.
